Ideas to Build Automaticity with Word Lists

I've been doing the PRESS Phonics intervention with my 1st graders. (P-3 & P-4) I feel like I'm doing the lesson with fidelity and the students seem like they are doing a good job.

The problem is that they still can't read the word lists very fluently. Some (not all) are sounding out every. single. word! I don't feel like the actual lesson prepares them for automaticity. Any suggestions for improving this with my students?

Thank you!
