I am struggling with PA-1 with my Junior Kindergarteners {Kindergarten age, but not socially or emotionally ready for the rigors of Kdg.} . I have been trying for a week to follow the expectations of PRESS, but. I have several students who are either giving me a number for the beginning sound, or telling about the picture instead of telling the beginning sound.
My take on this is that those students do not have the foundational understanding of a sound. How do I teach that concept and implement the PRESS intervention?
