In the PRESS decision making process, we do not have a specific area where we ask you to analyze sight word fluency. Assessing sight words in early reading can provide valuable information, so we have worked with schools that do choose to collect that information and use it to guide instruction at the tier 1 level. Typically when we are talking about fluency at PRESS, we are talking about passages, so there would be some sight words embedded into assessment and intervention. Additionally, some schools that feel strongly about needing an additional protocol to work on sight words choose to use F-1 as a protocol to practice sight words. Does this answer your question?
