When I went through the training, they said the 3 second rule applied. So technically they should get to 20 words in 1 minute at least to pass, if not, you continue because they need to build fluency on the skill. Then they can can get 2 wrong because that gets them 90%.
So when doing skill monitoring the first question is, did they get at least 20 words? The second question is, did they have 90% accuracy. If not continue with the skill.
Is there a certain words per minute that students should read before moving on to the next skill (CVC to Digraphs to ...)? I know that they need 90% accuracy. I saw in the binder that 19 correct and 1 error (95% accuracy) and moved to the next level. I also saw 18 correct and 2 errors and (90%) and moved to the next level. So, could they get 9 correct and 1 error (90%) and still pass the level? I appreciate your feedback.
Thank you,
Alicia
