Presenter: Debra Peterson, PhD., Education Specialist, Minnesota Center for Reading Research
Many years of research have shown that teachers who intentionally reflect on the impact of their instruction on student learning are more effective teachers. Reflecting with a trusted colleague can make the process more collaborative and provide the ongoing support needed to make refinements to instructional practices. Whether you have a literacy or instructional coach in your school or not, this session can benefit you as you engage in coaching conversations with colleagues to meet your professional learning goals. Tips will be shared on how to build trust and rapport, collect data on instruction, and find time for coaching conversations. A simple structure for coaching conversations will be shared as well as possible questions to ask during the conversation.
